BUILT IN THE LIGHT

Historical Architecture Photography project

A senior student project of photographing historical architecture. As an Interdisciplinary Studies major, I needed to combine my areas of studies in photography, visual communication, and art history into a single project for my graduation final. These criteria, along with my love of Italy, lead to this combination of photographing architecture in the historic city of Rome, Italy. I chose to focus on light as a joining element in my photographs, showing how different light illuminates the architecture.

I traveled to Rome with my mother earlier in 2018, spending six days in the city visiting sites. My time in Rome was culturally enriching, but it was also tiring as the ancient city is large and crowded. I loved experiencing how light can change how we see popular locations, creating different moods and altering the experience each time you visit.
